3 month stay...need help (Montevideo)

Live in Ecuador. Want to spend 3 months living in Montevideo. Any suggestions on where to find reasonably priced furnished studio or one bedroom apartment rentals and what the cost should be. What areas should we consider living in or keeping away from? No car so walking and public transportation nearby is important. IN member in Quito for over 3 years. Thanks for any input!
