Difficult to work in MV? (Montevideo)

Hello all,

My husband and I are thinking of relocating to Montevideo. It seems like a great place to live; nice climate, interesting culture, friendly people, lower cost of living...but my husband has heard it's very difficult to find work and get citizenship for Americans. Have you found this to be the case? Any tips? Anything I can tell him to entice him to try Uruguay?
