Moving to Uruguay (Montevideo)

My wife, Helen, and I, along with our two German Shepherds are hoping to move from Colorado, USA, to in and around Montevideo. We would be looking to retire there, and hope to rent a furnished home, where we could settle in and then try to purchase our own home.
Hopefully, then we could get a retirement status, and stay for our remaining days.
If you could please give us some tips on what to do, we would be very grateful.
I have sent an e-mail to the British Embassy asking for their help, but suprise, suprise, no reply as of yet.

We would also like to meet with the British ex-pats either by e-mail, forum or if you have it Skype, so they can tell us about the good and bad problems they may have had. Hope to hear from you soon.
Could you also let us know if there are any Anglican (CofE) churches in Montevideo, or similary faiths (Methodist etc).
