visit to Montevideo and Punta del Este

I will visit Uruguay for a week. Given there is no real guidebook on the country, I am interested in getting some inside info into regarding "must-do's". I visited Colonia a while back and would be interested in exploring Montevideo and the coast, country and people, food and villages not necessarily glamorous resorts in Punta. Any suggestions?
