British/French couple moving to Montreal April '14 (Montréal)

Hello fellow expats. Very happy to have found this forum as you all sound so friendly.
My french husband and I (I'm British) are moving from London to Montreal as permanent residents April '14. The packing has started.
I have a few questions.

Any recommendations on moving companies?

What to pack that you cannot get in Montreal cheaper than London/UK?

How to look for a short-term rental apartment? We have booked a apartment-hotel for seven days on arrival but i would ideally like to start making contact with some short-term (6months) rental agencies. We would like to buy a flat within the first year but im keen to have time to check out different quartiers before deciding where to buy.

Any tips from anyone who has recently moved from UK to montreal - gratefully received.
