Moving to Montreal from England with older kids (Montréal)

I am interested in moving to Montreal from England with kids ending primary + starting secondary school. They do not speak French but I would like them to learn. How does the (French-speaking) school system in Quebec compare to UK? Will the regular state schools provide much support for adjusting linguistically and socially?
