White Flower Charity Day/Concert 17.05.2015 (Moscow)

The Charity festival "White Flower" - Белый цветок - will be held on May 17 from 12 to 18 hrs at the Martha and Mary Convent, ul. Bolshaya Ordynka. 34.

The helpdesk "Mercy" , Foundation of St. Basil the Great , ANO "Nobility" and the Association of Philanthropists "White Flower" invite everybody to take part in one of the largest charity events in Moscow - "White Flower" (Белый цветок). The festival was founded a century ago by the will of the Emperor Nikolai II, and for a long time united in helping people in need throughout the Russian Empire. In the twenty-first century, the tradition of Days of flowers gradually revived.

From 12:00 to 18:00, there will be a charity fair (souvenirs, food, games and workshops for children and adults).

The concert program "White Flower" will be animated by Alla Basargin - concertmaster at the Center Galina Vishnevskaya Opera and pianist of the Bolshoi Theater. All day on the territory of the monastery live instrumental music will be played. This includes works by Bach, Scarlatti, Rachmaninoff, Piazzolla performed by soloists of the Center Galina Vishnevskaya Opera and artists of the Bolshoi Theater. In addition, the musicians will perform Celtic music, folk songs, works of ancient and modern authors.

There will also be exhibitions by craftsmen and lectures.

(For those who are religious, there will be a divine liturgy at 09:00 am)

All proceeds collected at the festival will be directed to the needs of children's palliative-site service - a joint project of the Orthodox service assistance "Mercy" and the Martha and Mary Convent.

Experts child visiting palliative services - doctors, nurses, social workers and psychologists - provide comprehensive assistance to families with seriously ill children. To date, 80 families receive assistance for children suffering from rare diseases - such as Duchenne's syndrome, mucopolysaccharidosis, spinal muscular atrophy, and others.
