Finding contacts among the expats in Tanzania's tourism industry wasn't half as difficult as I had feared.
Living in Moshi
Moshi is often referred to as the Cleanest Town in Tanzania, which is a nice accolade for any municipality. Situated on the lower slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro, which is both, a dormant volcano and the highest African mountain, Moshi has a population of just under 200,000 people. It goes without saying that expats living in Moshi should visit the mountain as soon as they get the chance - Kilimanjaro is known throughout the world for its splendor and magnificence, and you don't have to walk too far to get incredible views of Moshi. If you're not particularly interested in walking up a steep incline to get your bearings, you can always do some relaxing shopping at the main market, known as "Soko La Kati". Living in Moshi can be very rewarding with the right guidance and help - the InterNations expatriates can put you on the right track to make life abroad a success.

Moving to Moshi
Moshi's tropical climate makes it a stunning place to move to, especially for those looking for a bit of sunshine. According to the recent Tanzania Demographic and Health Survey, the Kilimanjaro region has the third highest male and female literacy levels of the whole country, with Moshi priding itself on a robust education system. Many people move from the surrounding areas to enjoy Moshi's university campuses and colleges - Mweka College and the Sokoine University of Agriculture both have campuses in Moshi. If you are thinking of moving to Moshi, but you need some advice about how to leave your previous belongings behind, or you need information on bringing your pets overseas with you, then you should look to the InterNations community of like-minded expatriates to aid you with your life-changing decisions.
Working in Moshi
Aside from the obvious employment benefits that tourism provides, Moshi is also home to a booming collection of manufacturing industries. Companies such as Bonite Bottlers, Ltd. and Serengeti Breweries Ltd. take residence in Moshi, and there are also many metalworking workshops. The lower altitude and drier climate means that Moshi can't produce a large surplus of bananas and coffee contrary to other parts of the country - instead the focus is on the production of beans and maize during the rainy seasons. There is a coffee factory in Moshi that specializes in the grinding, packaging and blending of coffee beans. Despite these opportunities, living and working in Moshi can be hard to get used to at first. The InterNations community of expatriates can make working in Moshi a little bit easier and less stressful, enabling any expatriate in Moshi to socialize and network with fellow expats living in Moshi and across the world.
