7 Documentaries Scarier Than Any Horror Movie U've (Mumbai)

Horror fans, rejoice! If you think you've seen it all, and are looking for something new to add to your playlist, look no further. Here's a list of truly terrifying documentaries that have outdone the horror movies that came out the same time they did.

1. ROOM 237
Loved The Shining? Room Protected content a ticket straight into Stanley Kubrick's brain at the time he turned Stephen King's classic novel into the classic horror film it later became. This one's packed with the alleged controversies that ultimately shaped the film.

2) THE NIGHTMARE

If you've only known the kind of fear that comes from watching a few silly horror movies, then this documentary is a lesson in correcting that. The documentary follows the nighttime sleep 'attempts' of a few people who suffer from severe sleep paralysis where the shadow people are daily visitors.

3) THE IMPOSTER
This film follows a 13-year-old boy from Texas who goes missing and is found three years later in Spain. A brief plot setting and the title are enough for people to put two and two together. A little side note - this documentary is a grim reminder of the lengths to which people will go just for attention.

4) CROPSEY

Cropsey follows two documentary filmmakers as they search for clues into the disappearance of five children. The setting, the mood and the ambiance seems nothing short of the magical stuff that inspired our favourite '90s horror-with-popcorn movies. Here, it's the boogeyman who's being hunted. Or is he?

5) MY AMITYVILLE HORROR

If you loved The Amityville Horror (the book and the original movie), then you'd love a viewing of this documentary as it follows one of the children of the Lutz family that became known for having fled the haunted house after only 28 days of living in it. A piece of advice - do not watch alone.

6) KILLER LEGENDS

If urban legends like 'The Candyman,' 'The Phantom Clowns,' and 'The Babysitter and the Man Upstairs,' have always made you curious, Killer Legends is a satisfying look at uncovering the stuff behind them. Don't get your hopes up too high though - there isn't a definite answer that you're left with by the end of it. Just a lot less questions.

7) THE JINX

Real estate heir Robert Durst stars in this documentary series that covers his alleged involvement in the disappearance of his wife in Protected content , a family friend and a neighbour. If Making A Murderer got your heart racing, this one promises to land you on the edge of your seat.
