Dhobi ghat/ Jain temple and Banganga visit (Mumbai)

Hello,

I am organising the following visits in November for the expats (though Indians are welcome to join). If you are interested, please mail me at
Protected content

Dhobi Ghat – Local train ride – Dabbawalas/ Local bus ride

The place where Protected content could be washing and ironing clothes at the same time!! Get a feel of life in the olden days with charcoal irons and hand-run dryers/ spinners for the clothes.

And for the brave adventurers, we continue the visit with a ride in the local train to reach Churchgate station, where we will meet the famous dabbawalas, who have achieved several records for services without any mistake. Even Prince Charles visited them when he came to Mumbai!

Since we cannot visit the Dabbawalas on Sunday, the Sunday visit will have a local bus ride along the scenic Marine Drive.

Do not worry, timings and routes for the train and bus rides have been selected specially to avoid the crowds of the rush hour.

Date: Saturday 5th, Sunday 6th and Thursday 10th November
Time: 9:30 – 11:30 am

Banganga tank – Jain temple

A visit that will help you understand Jainism, an important religion in Western India, as well as the philosophy of reincarnation in Hinduism. Detailed explanations make this visit much more interestng that just a quick walk though the place.

The Jains have always been open to welcoming people of all religions at their temple and the “Derasar” at Malabar Hill is one of their most beautiful temples in Mumbai.

Discover why the Banganga tank is considered sacred by the Hindus and which is the ceremony that is performed most often on its banks. It’s a quaint and quiet village situated right in the heart of the most expensive area of the city.

Dates: Saturday 12th, Sunday 13th and Monday 14th November
Time: 9:30 – 11:30 am
