About the instructor Sapna Shahani

Sapna has been a web video journalist for over 10 years and has taught workshops in the US and India. She is the founder of the WAVE Project or Women Aloud Video blogging for Empowerment at Protected content for which she trained 50 young women from every state in India to make Protected content documentaries on social justice themes. Funded through an award from the MacArthur Foundation's Digital Media and Learning competition, the project won several international awards. She has created content for Discovery Channel Asia, Babble Fish/ Only Much Louder, MTV Desi & Iggy, UTV and Current TV, among others. A producer, director, scriptwriter and Final Cut Pro editor, she has studied media at leading media institutions like the Bay Area Video Coalition and San Francisco State University.
