Moving to India with family (Mumbai)

Hello! We may have the opportunity to move to India for a few years with my husband’s job. We have two children (4 and 1). I did some brief research on Delhi but kept coming up with warnings about air pollution causing long term health implications for the kids.
Mumbai could also be an option. Would love to hear about people’s experience of moving there with young children. We’ve lived in developing countries before so I’m not comparing it to living in a European city but I’m interested to know about the quality of schools, is air pollution and sanitation something that causes a lot of problems, what are the hospital facilities like?
Is it possible to live slightly out of the city with cleaner air but commute into Mumbai?
