in Munich for a weekend, looking for local advice

hey folks,
i am in Munich for a weekend catching up with my brother who is travelling through.
i know munich is famous for its beer festival, so can anyone recommend a good beer hall or restaurant where we can have a good time, but maybe not be surrounded by other tourists?
any other little tidbits of advice greatly appreciated!
