Marienplatz (Munich)

Does anyone knows if it is necessary to ask for permission to the city to do a small exhibit or demonstration. A group of people from Mexico want to show support to Mexican students that are fitting for the democracy and liberty of speech in Mexico and we want to get together to show support and inform people around what is happening around Marienplatz. Does anyone knows if we require any special permit?
