New this summer (Munich)

Hello, I'll be visiting Munich from Boston this summer (starting this July) and I've never been so I know nothing about the city/people/culture. Any basic tips would be great. Also, I'm thinking of airbnb as an option to stay and since there are so many listed, which area in the center should I choose over another? Any key words to look for? Thank you, Mary
