US citizen & German resident saving for retirement (Munich)

Hi all,

I'm looking for tips re. retirement options for a US citizen living in Germany.

I am self-employed and have been in Munich for almost 9 years - I stopped contributing to my US IRA Protected content a few years ago, but haven't been convinced by any of the German products I've looked into. At present, I'm just using a regular savings account but I believe I will be hit with a US witholding tax, etc. I need more background to this and other questions.

Again, any tips are appreciated.
