1 year rent in advance / Information discrepencies (Muscat)

Hello everyone,

This is basically my first ever post, and i have read something somewhere about rents in general.

A website basically stated that the rent should be paid all together for an amount of 1 year if supposedly i took up a place.

Now in light of that matter i wanted to ask, dose this depend on the real estate agent or is it the norm?
