Canadian newly arrived in Muscat:)

Just wanted to know of any cool happenings in town. Are there any running clubs? How do you meet people in Muscat? I'm singing/playing guitar in one of the hotel clubs. I would like to find people to sight see with and hang out with. What were your experiences when you first moved here? Do expates date here or is that just an impossible dream?
