Future new to Muscat,

hi everyone, i am in the process of being offered a position in muscat, I never worked in the gulf area at all. the last 14 years I worked in Sydney Australia. I think this will be a good opportunity for me. I like some info on the living standard and any comments to a assist a newbi in muscat, such as how much is mobile plans?[ I looked at the Omantel website, but could not follow the plans), internet plans? prepaid or invoice, average food costs, information about vehicle rental (I am planning to rent a vehicle for a month or two until I am settled and know things around), I am have australian driving license (car and motorbike) - expired in Mar Protected content i transfer to Omani license, or do i have to do the driving test etc....
