Multiple entry visa US citizen (Muscat)

Hello,
My boyfriend is moving to Muscat, Oman soon with a 2 year work visa/contract for the government and we want to go together. Since we are not married I won't be sponsored so I am considering a multiple entry tourist visa. Any advice/opinion about that? Is it risky for me in any way??
Does anyone here has a multiple entry 25A visa as an American citizen? Is the number of entries limited over the 2 year period??
Also I thought there was no more Visas delivered at arrival but the ROP website is saying differently..?
Sorry, so many questions :) So stressful/confusing to get solid infos..

"US citizens are also eligible for a 2-year multi-entry visa for tourism or business for fifty Omani Rials (R.O. 50). This visa allows its holder to stay in Oman for three months on each visit. It is available upon arrival at any legal port of entry."
