Schengen Visa to Paris (Muscat)

Anybody knows how to get Schengen visa ? My first destination is Paris. I have checked their website (embassy of France in Muscat) regarding the required document to apply the visa. My concern only one which is about insurance due to my company doesn't provide any insurance. Is it still possible to apply the visa? How many days it will take for processing the visa?
