Apartment Hunting in Nairobi Area Questions
New to InterNations and relocating with my husband to Kenya this coming December.
We will be looking to rent an unfurnished or furnished apartment and I have been looking on Lamudi.co.ke and Olx.co.ke. I am wondering if these websites are reputable to find housing and if the pricing is legitimate? Or would it be better to find an estate agent to search for suitable accommodation for us?
We have a strict monthly rental budget of 20, Protected content / mo and are looking for a 1 bedroom, possibly 2. It doesn't have to be right in town as we can take the Matatu or hire a driver to get into Nairobi when needed, but it would be nice if it was near a market to buy basics.
What other things should we look for in an apartment besides:
Consistent Water Supply
(maybe) Backup power (are there a lot of blackouts??)
Also in the ads it seems appliances do not come with apartments. Is this the norm? Will we need to purchase a fridge and stove upon move-in?
If anyone has leads on Protected content , clean, secure apartments within Protected content of Nairobi I would love to get information.
