Buying Generator (Nairobi)

Hi folks,
we need to buy a generator ASAP. Power cuts in Karen are just ridiculous.
Have any of you experience with buying this equipment or can you refer us to a good shop? Also heard that an inverter may be better than a generator, but we have no experience with this.
