Holidays on the coast (Nairobi)

Hello,
I am planning my holidays for Easter and I am looking for a small hotel/cottage to stay on the coast. Ideally, it would be in Watamu/Malindi or on Diani Beach even further south. I d love to be right on the beach and thats what makes it difficult. I only find big hotels which is really not what I am looking for.
Any ideas are welcome :)
