quality of life in nairobi (Nairobi)

I am considering a job offer in Nairobi and would like to ask you how you find living and working there. Internet is swarmed with news about crime, poverty and terrorism. but that's the sort of things that make the headlines. what is your experience? how is culture, weather, people, food, traffic, health care, accommodation etc etc etc are you secure compound and office bound or do you live pretty much normal life provided you stick to some security measures? how do you find medical care, would/did you have your baby there, are nannies available through an agency or word of mouth. I am very open and looking forward to the new experience, but I need a few arguments to convince my sceptic husband...please help
