Tailoring teacher needed in Kitui area (Nairobi)
For a vocational training of young women, primarily single mothers, in the Kitui West sub-county we're looking for a tailoring teacher.
We are a charitable organisation, Foundation Watu Wangu in the Netherlands and Watu Wangu Kenya in Kenya. The vocational training is part of an empowering program called Watu Wangu Academy, which seeks to help young women, primarily single mothers, in the Kitui West sub-county take control of their own lives by giving them the tools to become socially resilient and economically independent.
The program consists of a choice of 3 courses: Beauty Care; Tailoring; Hospitality Services. Over a period of 3 months, 5 days a week, the ladies will be educated in one of these fields.
Additionally they will receive information and guidance in other areas (legal; commercial; administrative; social; personal),
During the school days, we provide food and childcare for those women who need it. The courses are offered free of charge.
For the training of Tailoring we need a skilled and competent teacher, who is preferably familiar with the learning methods of Winifred Aldrich:
-Metric Pattern Cutting for Women’s Wear
-Metric Pattern Cutting for Menswear
-Metric Pattern Cutting for Children’s Wear and Babywear
Assignment will be for 3 months (the duration of one course), with a possible extension to the next 3 month course, et cetera.
