Trip to Nairobi

Hi folks. I am a member of InterNations based in London and I would like to visit Kenya early in March. I am planning to spend 6 days there, 3 days in a safari and 3 days in Nairobi. I was looking around for a place to stay and I found a nice hotel in the Westlands. I guess my questions are:

- In general, is Nairobi safe for a tourist?
- How easy is it to go from the Westlands to the main city attractions?
- If I stay in the Westlands will I have something to do at night?
