Credit Card Help (New Delhi)

Hello, i'm wondering if anyone has experience using US credit cards in India? I'm finding mine gets declined about 50% of the time because their systems can't accept US cards.
Is there a certain type of card to use? Visa, Mastercard, American Express? Others?
