Moving to Delhi (New Delhi)

Hi -

I'm moving to Delhi from the US in May/June for an internship and would love to hear your experiences about what it is like living in Delhi, and as a woman traveling alone. I lived in India (Madras/Chennai) as a child and have visited several times since then as an adult for extended periods of time in the summer but didn't have to deal with public transportation and my family lived there so I had a home, etc...And now I'm moving back to India after 12 years!

Do you have tips on daily life in Delhi, especially around where to live, whether it's better to live by myself or with roommates, and what's the best mode of transportation (I always just took autos in Madras)?
