Need advice on housing in South Delhi (New Delhi)

Hi, I am a newly arived diplomat and looking for housing in South Delhi. I notice many diplomats choose to live Visan Vihar, but the apartments I looked in that area were really old and extremely expensive (my budget is RS 160,000). I strarted to look for apartment near Panchsheel Park Enclave and GK (where my office is located) in the past few days, and found some good apartments in nice neighbourhood that really got my attention. The only thing concerns me is whether these areas offer the same security and convienience as in Vasan Vihar for foreigners. I would appreciate any expats or locals who can address this question.
