Petri Latex Art Workshop (New Delhi)

A chance to Learn and explore a new art technique. Paul Liptrot is young artist from United Kingdom who tries to break the boundaries between science and art. His art is an alchemy where you can control a part of the process and then let chemicals take over, resulting in beautiful pieces. And he is here to share his process with you.

This workshop will give participants the opportunity to experiment with colour and light in an art-science space. Working with petri dishes, the staple of laboratories the world over, you will create abstract objects using liquid latex, ink and chemicals.

The workshop will begin with a short introduction to Paul’s art practice, inspirations and processes.

This will be followed by a short demonstration of how liquid latex works and can be used.

After this you will be set free to experiment with different methods of making beyond simply adding ink to the latex. You will be encouraged to find different ways of making a mark using tools, layering, your movements and more. There will be time to make several dishes so you will be able to refine your ideas and following some drying time will be able to take away what you have made. Making is only part of the journey and during the process we will all consider how our own perceptions relate to the abstract worlds we create, with colour, depth and form influencing what it is we see.
