Shipping things to Europe/Norway - any advice? (New Delhi)

Hi everybody!

I was wondering if any of you have any experience in shipping things from India to Norway (or another comparable European country), and how to go about it? Previously I've just sent things by post, but there must be an easier way..? Renting a small container perhaps?
I have no idea, but not too keen on spending my last week at the post office. :P It's mostly books and clothes,one set of tabla drums-perhaps one or two small pieces of furniture.
Hope any of you Internationals have some advice, perhaps recommendations!
