Advice about Cost of Living in NYC :) (New York)

Dear All,

I'm considering an offer in NYC but while I'm expecting to indicate a salary expectation, I'm quite unclear on the general cost of living in the city. My research on the net shows varying estimates so I don't know what is really realistic ?

If you could help with some cost estimates of the following that would be great!
- Rent for a one bedroom or studio in a safe area
- Transportation - monthly
- Groceries for a single person
- Fitness/ gym
- Taxes?
- Any other routine expenses that I might be missing?
