Chic Budget Apartment & Grad School Advice (New York)

Hi all,

I'm moving from NJ to NYC to get into a grad school in NYC. I'm also looking for a chic economical studio / one bedroom apartment for myself in a cool but not so fancy area.
I plan to move out as soon as I find something nice and close to the campus of good universities.
