Cocktail event (New York)

I have to organise a cocktail event for a client in September for 50 people. They do not want to use a hotel as they are a hotel. They are looking for a funky upscale place that has a private room for 50.last year we did it at the River Restaurant on the east side. It needs to be relatively easy to get to. Any suggestions would be welcomed.
