Italian Photographer-Journalist or Artistic visa?! (New York)

I am Giulia, fine art and fashion photographer from Milano, now based in NYC.
A big photographer offered me a position in his studio but they suggested me the journalist visa... they say that is easier to get, faster,...

Anyone here have experience with those annoying papers?
