Places to go? (New York)

Dear New Yorkers!

My six girlfriends and I are coming from Sweden to New York for the very first time in a couple of weeks..

We know where to go for the shopping and museums etc. However, I would be so grateful if you could tell us where the current hot-spots are in New York in terms of bars, restaurants and night clubs? Any major events between the 16th-23rd of September this year?

As this is our first time for all six of us we would like to make the most of our stay and not missing out anything :)
