Summit versus Scarsdale (New York)

I'm moving my family to New York in Summer Protected content . Have looked at rentals in Scarsdale and Summit and are trying to work out which would be better for a New Zealand / Hong Kong expat family with two kids (aged 8 and 11). The commutes are comparable, but there seem to be more houses on the market in Summit. Any perspectives from the forum?
