Interested in living in France for a year (Nice)

Hi all! Just arrived on InterNations - looking forward to speaking with some of you!

I'd like to live and work in France for a year, starting in the summer or fall of Protected content . I'm a dual Canadian-American citizen, and I'd primarily be going to improve my French language skills. The Canadian government has a joint program with France - among other countries - where they give temporary work visas to a certain number of young adults every year, so I'd apply through that.

From what I understand, finding a job in France is pretty difficult right now. I've heard that French citizens are typically hired first, then EU citizens, then citizens of nations outside of the EU. I'm pretty open to most jobs that will help me to improve my French, but my background is in media. Any expats on here have any experience with job hunting in France? Is it as difficult as I've heard?

I appreciate any advice/tips (mostly concerned about the job hunt, but I'll take anything!) Thanks in advance :)
