Everybody who has spent time in a different country knows that expat life is not quite like anything else in the world. The confusion of the first few days and weeks, the slow, but steady process of acclimation, the little peculiarities and quirks that might strike you about your new surroundings: almost any situation you encounter can make for a great story. If you are so inclined and want to blog about it, of course!

Our InterNations recommended blog section features talented expat bloggers from around the world. Their offerings to the blogosphere have been selected for their great entries and high quality, whether they may be funny, informative, interesting, deeply personal or a combination of all of the above.

Let’s hear from our featured bloggers in Nice:

Delana: du Jour

For instance, one day I went to the doctor because of a pain in my upper leg, and tried to describe the problem. As he laughed, I knew I’d made another error…but what? It turns out I told him, “My buttocks are evil. How do you find them?”

Mel: Nice by dark

Nice is full of expats with colourful life stories. Through Meet Up groups and InterNations events I made my first few friends and from there my circle expanded. My advice is: be a chameleon. Adapt to your surroundings and open yourself up to meeting weird and wonderful individuals of all nationalities.

Gail: The Best of Nice

I was completely unprepared! No job, no connections, no apartment, no residency card and not even able to speak French! Fortunately, what I lacked in preparedness I made up for in determination, and 16 years later, not only am I still here, I’ve become an expert.

Ida Hagen

"Was a bit afraid of the 'posh' expat set at the French Riveria, but I got such a warm welcome in the Côte d'Azur Community! :) "
