Permanent Residency in Norway Benefits? (Oslo)

Anyone have input on Residency and Permanant Residency differences and benefits in Norway? I know there is a minimum number of language course hours and minimum number of years Protected content must have to apply. Other than not having to apply every year for residency permit what are the benefits of the Permanant Residency status?
