I wanted to spread the word that the University of Ottawa Red Cross group is hosting a film festival "Even Wars Have Limits". They will show "The Greatest Silence: Rape in the Congo" and "Rebelle".

The University of Ottawa Red Cross Club is honored to be hosting the "Even Wars Have Limits: Protected content Festival"! This event will be taking place on the University of Ottawa campus, in the Colonel By auditorium C03.

We will be showcasing one documentary and one film in order to demonstrate and raise awareness about International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and issues surrounding armed conflicts. Specific issues of focus within the showcased films include women and conflict and child soldiers.

Schedule:

- 2:00 PM: “The Greatest Silence”: This is a Protected content Film Festival award winning documentary elaborating on the use of rape as a weapon of war in the armed conflict ongoing in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

- 6:00 PM: “Rebelle”: This film, showcased at the Toronto International Film Festival, presents Komona, a 14 year old girl, who narrates her story to her unborn child. Her story begins when she is taken by rebel force at the age of 12 in Sub-Saharan Africa to become a child soldier.
**This film will be shown in French with English subtitles.

The event is FREE however we are asking for donations. All proceeds raised from this event will go toward the Child Advocacy and Rehabilitation (CAR) Fund as well as the University of Ottawa Red Cross Club. CAR is a program developed by the Liberian National Red Cross Society which supports children from the ages of Protected content old who have experienced, witnessed or participated in violence as a result of the ongoing war in Liberia and now may be traumatized. These children have limited access to education and are vulnerable; either marginalized, forgotten, or outcasted by society. CAR provides education, training, and counselling to these children.
