Governor General's Summer Concerts in the Garden (Ottawa)

This weekend, Saturday, July 24 and Sunday, July 25, Protected content , there are free outdoor concerts on the beautiful grounds of the governor general’s official residence.

Visitors are welcome to come early, to bring a picnic before the concerts.

Saturday, July 24, at 1 p.m.
Songs and Tangos from the Americas, by the Gryphon Trio and Patricia O’Callaghan, will delight audiences with their highly refined and dynamic performance. The trio’s celebrated recordings include works by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Dvorak, Lalo and Shostakovich.

Saturday, July 24, at 3 p.m.
The Band of the Ceremonial Guard, one of Canada’s oldest and best-known military bands, will perform. The Guards’ rich repertoire is sure to enchant young and old alike.

Sunday, July 25, at 1 p.m.
the Afiara String Quartet will take the stage. This young, all-Canadian ensemble bridges the gap between Haydn and hip-hop. The Afiara String Quartet takes its name from the Spanish word fiar, meaning “to trust,” a basic element vital to the depth and joy of its music-making.

Sunday, July 25, at 3 p.m.
Time for Three, a charismatic trio that transcends traditional classification with its signature blend of classical, country, western, gypsy and jazz music will conclude The Governor General’s Summer Concerts.
