Where to go in africa (Ouagadougou)

I am planning a trip/move to Africa. I'd like to get some opinions on which countries to travel to from Americans that have already been there. I've travelled the us but never overseas so I'm trying to prepare as much as possible. Also, I have quite a few tattoos and inch plugs in my ears. Where can I go where this is not an issue? Detailed answers and personal testimonials would be very appreciated!
