Help choosing (primary) school (Oxford)

Hi,

I am moving with my family from Lisbon to Oxford this summer and need help choosing a primary school for my children (aged 5 and 8).
My knowledge of the area is very superficial (previous stay of 3 months, over 5 years ago) and I have no idea which areas should be avoided and which government or religious run schools to choose from.
The Ofstead listing is helpful but not really informative enough.
I will be working in Headington but would rather not have my children lose much time in commuting.
