Affordable rental in nice neighborhood (Panama City)

HI! My family will be spending two weeks in Panama at the end of August and early September. We will be in Chiriqui and on the coast for the bulk of our stay but would like to spend at least a few days exploring Panama City. I've been searching VBRO abd Vivium for 2 bedroom condos/apts to rent, but I'm so unfamiliar with the neighborhoods that I don't want to book something in an area that is either unsafe to walk or inconvenient.

It would be nice to be able to take relatively cheap taxi rides to places like the Canal, Albrook Mall, and any other sights you can recommend. If you know of rental unit that would be available Sept Protected content can recommend a neighborhood for me to focus on, I'd really appreciate some guidance.

Also, do recommend taking a city tour to get better acquainted with the city? If so, can you recommend a good guide?
