Aussies in Panama (Panama City)

We are considering relocating from Qld to Panama. Have heard lots about Panama through American eyes, but would like to know how Aussies view the country regarding health costs/services, cost of living, broadband internet, TV, crime, what to bring/not bring etc etc. We are retired and wonder if there are other Aussie retirees who could "point the way"?
We are two gay guys and wonder how well we would be accepted?
Would really appreciate your input as this as you no doubt know is a big move.
