Bottled water found to be unsafe (Panama City)

Tests of bottled water available in Panama have found that five brands do not meet minimum levels of quality for safe consumption.

La Prensa commissioned studies of the nine brands of bottled water sold in Panama during December and early January, when many residents had to buy bottled water because of shortages in Panama City and San Miguelito.

Puríssima, Aqua Viva and Aqua Sana were found to have bacteria levels above what is considered to be safe. The lab also found higher-than-allowed turbidity levels in the Puríssima, Panama Blue and Cristalina brands.

Company officials from the five brands all claimed that the water they produce is pure and certified by overseas technicians
