Contadora HELP! (Panama City)

Hi there, my husband and I will be in Panama next week and we are planning a visit to Contadora. I know the fastest way to get there is by air, but my hubby won't fly the small aircrafts, so we're thinking of taking a ferry transfer.

Does anyone here know how the locals get back & forth? I'm sure there has to be a sort of 'public' transport to/from the island. So far, I've only found a costly 'ferry' ($70/rt/pp) and the reviews on it are iffy to bad.

Any info would be appreciated.
