2 br Apartment close to the Sorbonne (Paris)

I will be moving to Paris in January with a friend to spend a term at the Sorbonne (my friend will spend a term completing his masters at ESCP). So far I've had little success. Having lived in London for quite some time I was expecting the prices to be similarly high. So far the average has been somewhere around 2,500 Euros per month.

Is this the general cost of a modest 2 bedroom apartment in the 6th/7th?

Any help would be warmly received.
